DESCRIPTION:This workshop is focused on Chapter 1 of See.Do.Be.Free.: A Field Guide for Becoming a Community in Mission and lays the foundation for the four remaining workshops.  \nWe start by focusing on Jesus’s practical ecclesiology: his vision for the church\, derived from the Greek term\, “ekklesia”\, that describes a particular kind of gathering in Athens made up of citizens who would come together to care for and call forth the good of the city. We refer to this as a Community in Mission. We highlight the gifts of a bed\, a bath and a meal as essential for sustaining this type of community. \nThis workshop is an important conversation for those who want to create cities of peace for all people as modeled by Jesus. \nWe will be joined by guest speaker Brian McLaren. Brian is an author\, speaker\, activist and public theologian. Peter is the Executive Director of the Center for Faith and Justice and a pastor in San Francisco\, California. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is focused on Chapter 5 of See.Do.Be.Free.: A Field Guide for Becoming a Community in Mission.  \nIn this workshop\, we will focus on the evaluative task of a Community in Mission. We will consider the underlying questions regarding Jesus’s way of seeing\, doing and being\, and how it frees us to love and serve. We see the Incarnational Framework as a way of reflecting on each of our CiM’s efforts to live out its dream. The Incarnational Framework uses a simple rule of thumb that is easy to remember: See. Do. Be. Free. It helps leadership get to the incarnational heart of things quickly. It allows us to tell ourselves the truth about God\, ourselves\, and our call to love the world. In this sense\, it invites us to measure what matters.  \nThis workshop is an important conversation for those who want to create cities of peace for all people as modeled by Jesus.  \nWe will be joined by guest speaker Sarah Moore. Sarah is the co-founder of Beyond Data\, Senior Fellow for Applied Research at Street Psalms\, and Professor Emerita at the University of Puget Sound.
