SUMMARY:Workshop: Becoming a Community in Mission
DESCRIPTION:The Becoming a Community in Mission resource is designed for the leadership of faith communities who want to create the conditions for human flourishing\, embodying the very thing they desire to see in the world\, and who are interested in exploring questions like\, “What are the emerging social structures that will help form\, shape and model the kind of humanity that leads to human flourishing? What kinds of communities can hold difference and create the conditions for everyone to belong\, especially the most vulnerable?” \nWe refer to this type of organization as a Community in Mission (CiM). Such a community can take many forms\, such as a local church\, a non-profit organization\, a public or private venture\, or even a network. It can be Christ-centered\, or rooted in other faith traditions. We celebrate all its forms. However\, throughout this workshop (and all Street Psalms resources) we explore what a community mission looks like when rooted within the Christian tradition and committed to the common good as modeled by Jesus. \nIn this workshop\, we will spend our time together in conversation and application in your context. We will focus on the movement from a system of sacrifice to a system of mercy. DESCRIPTION:The Street Psalms Preaching Peace Table will not be meeting July 30-Aug 30\, 2025. We look forward to seeing you on September 3! \nThe Preaching Peace Initiative is designed for leaders who are exploring together what it means to teach and preach a liberating Gospel of peace in their city. We currently have two models of Preaching Peace Tables that are open source and available to anyone who wants to develop their own expression: Citywide Table and Church/Ministry Table. Learn more about hosting your own table here.  \nStreet Psalms hosts a weekly table for leaders who facilitate Preaching Peace Tables (or are interested in starting a Table). We gather around the gospel lectionary text to practice doing theology from below. All are welcome to join.
